Sight Translation presents specific challenges to the court interpreter and interpreter trainee given that documents presented in court or at depositions or on interpreter exams can range from a highly formal register with formulaic legal language (contracts, Judge’s Rulings, Divorce Decrees, etc.) to more informal registers found in police reports, news clippings, etc and even a sub-standard register encountered in hand-written letters. The interpreter’s job is challenging!
This 3-hour course seeks to help the interpreter and interpreter trainee MASTER the Art of Sight Translation through proper technique and intensive guided practice.
